FAQs
- I have completed several Safety & Rescue/rope access courses already, can I therefore skip the SRT1 and go straight to SRTA?
No – You need to have successfully completed a Rescue 3 International SRT1 before you can do a SRT A course. - Are there any pre-requisites for the course?
Each course has different pre-requisites. Pre-requisites are listed on each 'Course Information' page
- Will I get a recognised qualification at the end of the course?
Rescue 3 courses are internationally recognised; on successful completion of a Rescue 3 course you will be added to the Rescue 3 International database as being at that level. In addition, the majority of courses are NFPA (1006-1670) compliant and furthermore several courses delivered by Rescue 3 (UK) can be used to go towards Higher Education Awards with the University of Central Lancashire. We can tailor-make courses to your specifications, please see the Customised Training section for more information. - What does NFPA mean?
National Fire Protection Association: Rescue 3 International and our network of instructors are constantly revising courses to provide the most current information on techniques and equipment. In 1999, there was a major revision in the curriculum to meet the requirements of the new National Fire and Protection Association (NFPA) 1670 Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents in the areas of water and rope. This training is available at the awareness, operations, and technician levels. We have also developed training and testing to meet the NFPA 1006 Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications.
- Can I revalidate my qualification without having to do the whole course again?
You can re-validate most courses by going on to the next level. You can also complete competency based assessments for SRT1 and SRT A courses. Please see Re-Certification of Training Courses for more information. - Is there a minimum age to attend a Rescue 3(UK) course?
Yes – the minimum age is 18 years old. - Do I need to be a strong swimmer to attend a Rescue 3 (UK) course?
You need to be a confident swimmer, with the ability to swim 25m. - What is the difference between the Whitewater Rescue Technician and the Swiftwater Rescue Technician?
The Whitewater Rescue Technician (WRT) is aimed at Outdoor Professionals with existing river experience. The core course knowledge and skills are per the SRT 1 course but the emphasis is on whitewater river situations and as such the course is equipment light. - How much do the courses cost?
Course costs can be found via a link on each course information page
