Flood Operations for Emergency Planners - Course Information

Course Length: 2 days
Course Times: 9am – approx 5pm each day
Location: The National Whitewater Centre
Please register at reception 15 minutes before the course start time.
Pre-requisites for Attending the Course
- Candidates should be confident swimming in open water
Equipment
We will supply:
- All technical equipment
- Drysuit
- Buoyancy aid
- Helmet
- Wetboots
You will need:
Dry sessions:
- Warm clothes
- Waterproofs
- Sturdy footwear
Wet sessions:
- Woolly bear/thermal/fleece trousers & top to wear under the drysuit *
* If you don’t have suitable thermals to wear under the drysuit thermal suits are available to borrow
If you have your own drysuit and would prefer to use it please bring it with you.
Food and Accommodation
Non-Residential
f you are attending the course as non-residential you will be sent a booklet of accommodation in the local area, allowing you to choose the type of accommodation that suits you.
There is a café at the centre; however, it is not always possible to coincide breaks with a visit to the café. Therefore it is advisable to bring enough food/drink with you.
Fully Residential
If you are attending the course as fully residential, check-in is from 5.00pm on the evening before the course (evening meal provided) at a local 3* hotel. Check out is after breakfast on the last day of the course.
All meals will be provided from dinner the evening before your course to lunch on the last day of your course. Accommodation is on a single room basis.
The menu will be provided by the Hotel, any additional purchases, such as drinks, must be paid for at the time and not charged to your room.
