Maintaining Your Instructor Status

Both provisional and non-provisional instructors must be ‘active’ if they are to deliver courses. To remain ‘active’ instructors must:

  1. Hold a current EMT/Advanced First Aid certificate (see below) and have a copy of this on file with Rescue 3 (UK).
  2. Deliver at least one class per area of qualification per year.  Co-teaching a class is acceptable.
  3. Attend/work on a course run by an Instructor Trainer or Instructor Preceptor every two years or attend an Instructor Update Workshop every two years.

Should an instructor become non-active they can re-activate their status by either re-attending an Instructor Training course or completing 1 & 3 above.  Additionally, they will also need to pay the relevant re-cert registration fee and have a skill sheet signed off by the Instructor Trainer or Preceptor.  For example a lapsed SRT 1 Instructor would pay a SRT 1 re-cert fee.

EMT Certification
Rescue 3 Instructors are required to hold a current Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent Advanced First Aid Qualification. As a basic guideline any advanced First Aid or EMT qualification that is in addition to a HSE approved First Aid at Work should be suitable.  This includes:

Food and Accommodation
Non-Residential
If you are attending the course as non-residential you will be sent a booklet of accommodation in the local area, allowing you to choose the type of accommodation that suits you.

There is a café at the centre; however, it is not always possible to coincide breaks with a visit to the café. Therefore it is advisable to bring enough food/drink with you.

Fully Residential
If you are attending the course as fully residential, check-in is from 5.00pm on the evening before the course (evening meal provided) at a local 3* hotel. Check out is after breakfast on the day of the course. All meals will be provided from dinner the evening before your course to lunch on the day of your course. Accommodation is on a shared room basis unless requested otherwise at time of course booking. If you require single room accommodation please inform Rescue 3 UK of this before the course, a single room supplement will be payable.

The menu will be provided by the Hotel, any additional purchases, such as drinks, must be paid for at the time and not charged to your room.
