Complying with the Defra Module 2 requirements this course provides the knowledge and skills to undertake bank based and shallow water resues at water incidents, including floods and swiftwater incidents. It also provides input to enable First Responders to assist Resue Technicians at such incidents.
This should be seen as the base level of certification for all operational personnel responding to flooding incidents.

Water and flood dynamics and hazards
Personal and team equipment
On-scene safety briefing and site control
Pre-planning and incident management
Medical and personal welfare considerations
Considerations for night operations
Mud, ice and unstable surface considerations
Basic swiftwater swimming and self rescue
Bank based rescue options
Shallow water techniques
Continuous loop shallow water rope system

Confident swimmer
