Rescues from Vehicles in Water

This specialist one and a half day course for SRT 1 Technicians explores the skills required to deal with rescues from vehicles in water. Using a purpose-designed in-water training vehicle in a controllable water flow the course looks at vehicle behaviour and stabilization in water as well as access techniques and casualty extrication.

Rescue 3 Rescues from Vehicles in WaterRescues from vehicles in water are a growing hazard faced by UK Fire & Rescue services.  Whilst generic swiftwater rescue technician skills and techniques can be utilised for these rescues, current training does not provide realistic and specific exposure to these incidents.

The first UK practical vehicle rescues workshop was run at Watersafe 2004 and with the success of this workshop Rescue 3 (UK) and Water Wise have continued the development to produce a 1 & 1/2 day specialist course which includes:

Course pre-requisites

The courses are based at the Tees Barrage White Water centre, near Middlesborough, which has an in-water training vehicle, controllable water flows, bank-side classroom and changing facilities as well as hotel accommodation adjacent to the site.
